Hi there! I’m a strategic management and marketing professional who has suffered with fibromyalgia for more than 30 years. Job stress initially brought it on and the symptoms would get worse as the stress increased. You can read “My Fibromyalgia Story” to learn more about this.
My career has included a variety of work in the marketing field since I graduated form Thunderbird School of Global Management with a masters degree in international management and marketing. Since then, I’ve had additional high-level training in strategic management, business planning, and digital marketing. As I work with clients, my unique talents lay in my ability to see a bigger picture and future opportunities as they describe their challenges and goals. Then together we create a roadmap to help them get from where they are in the present to where they want to be at some future date.
While this has been satisfying work, from time to time, it’s been stressful. I’ve learned enough about my own strengths and weaknesses to understand when the work has evolved into more stressful activities and tasks. I’ve learned the hard way that if I don’t pay attention to the signals my body sends me, those signals will continue to get stronger until they are practically debilitating.
When things are going well and I’m enjoying my work, I sometimes forget about the connections between diet, exercise, stress and fibromyalgia. When the pain is gone or practically non-existent, it’s too easy to think this is something I’ve overcome and I don’t have to deal with anymore. But that’s not the case. There is no cure for fibromyalgia and once you have it, it’s with you forever and just needs to be managed.
Over the years with the help of certain medical specialists, special supplements, help from friends and family, and a lot of research on my part, I learned about the mind-body connection and how food, movement, and stress can help or hurt my fibromyalgia. I also learned the hard way, that it’s important to pay attention to my body because it will tell me when I’m going down the wrong path
My goal with this blog is to share what I’ve learned, and continue to learn, with other fibromyalgia sufferers in the hopes that you find tips to improve your own health situation. I love helping others succeed and see this as a way to apply my marketing and coaching expertise in a new direction.
